having had incredibly good luck with girls throughout my life i know this song backwards and forwards. i can play the song on guitar (really anyone can – part of it’s beauty is it’s a simple song) and when drunk or sober will sit around sulking and listening to it. i can’t even guess how many times i’ve heard the song, but i watched this video of prince singing it today and did not even recognize it. though the quality of the video is pretty good, i can’t make anything out of this performance, which i believe should be awarded the worst cover in the history of music. in a fair world thom yorke would be allowed to break a guitar over prince’s head for what he did to his nice song. as punishment for the shoo-be-dos, queen-esque guitar solo and taking the liberty to change the lyrics, i think prince should be required to spend the rest of his life parading around in his assless chaps, even when he is much older than he is now.
i think he also dated carmen electra, which makes it hard to believe he can relate to the song.
